Bruton Parish
Bruton Parish. The parish church in Williamsburg. During the early 18th century, Evangelist George Whitefield delivered sermans here, before settling in Georgia, where he electrified a wide audience of converts.
Lockup
The Lockup. This 1704 building was a central prison in Virginia. When it was renovated in 1927, all that remained was a walled, three-structure compound with a pitched roof. The first goaler was John Redwood. In 1711, The General Assembly authoized a debtors' prison and a keeper's house in 1722.
Ludwell House
Ludwell-Paradise House. Located on Duke of Gloucester Street in Williamsburg. Built ca 1753.
Mathews Manor
Mathews Manor was build by Samuel Mathews before 1634, when he ignited the first flames of revolution, setting the stage for Bacon's Rebellion. This artist's rendering dated to about 1628 and was built in Hampton Roads (on the current site of Denbigh).
